Hello there! ⍟
The Kickoff for the Football Game was the Parade.
So
High School is not the only one that celebrates Homecoming! The
University of Iowa, short UI, did it too, and even bigger! Me,
Deb and Eleonora went to the Homecoming Parade before we went to the game. We had “VIP”
seatings and watched literally every single community in Iowa City
walk pass us, presenting themselves with their Parade cars. Not to
forget all the candy they were giving away.
And
then we went to the Hawkeye Football Game.
The
day after the Parade was the Homecoming Football Game. Deb's
husband gave me and Eleonora tickets for it, which was amazing
considering how expensive they are (around $50 each). And seriously,
it was one of the most overwhelming and awesome experiences so far. We took the Hawkeye Express train which took us directly to the stadium. Going into the stadium for the first time was mind blowing. It was
huuuge. And every single person was wearing black and gold, the
Hawkeye colors! Me and Eleonora too, of course. We had Iowa
sweatshirts, stickers and bandanas! We felt truly American.
It's
just crazy how proud they all are, proud of this small, unknown Iowa
City. The spirit really gets you and makes you proud of it as well. I
think that was the time when I realized I was happy to be in Iowa
City. Seeing these black and gold rows, cheering like crazy for your
team. Even though I still understand less than half of the actual
football game, it was unbelievably fun for me to go to the game.
And we won! Go Hawks!!!
Stay tuned!
Bye ⍟
