So
this week is my third week as a student at City High.
And
first everything was really confusing! The school is huge and so
crowded! My school in Germany had about 600 students in total and here there are
about 600 students in one year! There are three floors and incredibly
many rooms, and with my great sense of orientation you can imagine
how easy it was to find all of my class rooms. Yeah, exactly. Using
irony here.
I
guess I got used to it now though. And luckily there are five other
exchange students here, a girl from Bulgaria, one from Italy, one
from Norway, one from Sweden and also a guy from Germany! So since
the first school day I was never alone, and I'm so glad about that!

I
was fine with all of them, I did my best to be a part of the classes,
and it's going well!
Except
for Algebra 2.
I
was never good at math, I hate it, but I had to take it in order to
continue the math class at my school in Germany. It makes sense that
you have to take Algebra 1 before you take Algebra 2, but apparently
people at my age would all take Algebra 2 and I thought there would
be some kind of introduction or explaining after the long summer
break. But no, of course that wasn't the case.
Already
at the second day of school, they started to work in their books,
answering question after question, and there was no explanation at
all.
So
I had to try hard not to cry and went to my school Counselor. We
decided that it would be better if I joined Algebra 1 instead.
A
course full of freshman (and I'm considered a senior). But these math
vocabularies are seriously so complicated. When I first heard
“Integer”, “Rational” or “Terminating” I was like “Oh
my god get me out of here!”
But it's going better now. Had my first Algebra test today too, I hope it's not too bad.

The
City High Pep Rally.
Now
that was a really fun experience! The whole school wore red and white and got together at
the City High Little Hawks football field. All of the sport teams
introduced themselves. Of course the football team was the most
popular one. Then they also played some games and the school director and
the administrative
staff
did
the Ice Bucket Challange (picture above).
Unfortunately
I couldn't get in any sport teams this trimester, I probably arrived
too late, but I will definitely join one in the following trimesters.
The spirit of the teams are amazing!
Here
are some photos of the Pep Rally:

The Pep Rally felt soo American, I never would've seen that in any European country. It was just really cool.
Sorry for the bad quality, I filmed these with my mobile!
Well, I hope I brought some High School Spirit to you, and I also hope that the following time at City High won't be too hard for me!
That's it for now! Stay Tuned!
Bye ⍟
