Hello there! ⍟
I
donated my hair.
I've
been wanting to cut my hair for a long time. You know, I had really
really long hair. At some point in my life I decided to let it grow
and I liked my hair a lot to be honest, but lately it's just been
annoying me. It was too long. So I talked to different people
about where a good hairdresser in Iowa City was, and then Vicky's
host mum told me that I should donate it.
Locks
of Love & Pantene.
Basically
there are two big organizations I've heard about. Locks of Love and
Pantene. They both make wigs for children with cancer out of the
donated hair. But obviously you can't make a wig out of a few
centimeters, so their minimum requirements are 10 and 8 inches. First
I only heard about the 10 inches one, which is Locks of Love, so I
wasn't sure if I really wanted to do it, but then I also heard of
Pantene, which is 8 inches. 8 inches are about 20 centimeters while
10 inches are about 25 centimeters. 20 centimeters is still a lot,
but I wanted to cut my hair anyway, and my hair grows pretty fast.
And obviously, the cause is just great.
Then
it happened real quick.
I
talked to my host mum, she arranged an appointment, the hairdresser
lady was really nice, and just like that – I saw four pieces of
long hair lying in front of me. I am now super proud of myself and
it's not even as ugly as I thought it would be! It's a great feeling
to do something for such a good cause.
